At Sacred Heart School, we believe in the importance of individualized assessment to understand and nurture each student's unique strengths and areas for improvement. Our Classroom Performance Assessment is designed to comprehensively evaluate students across six multidimensional skills or developmental learning areas. Here's how our assessment process works:
Assessment Scope:
Our assessment process covers a broad spectrum of skills, knowledge, behavior, and competence across the following six developmental learning areas:
Assessment Methods:
We conduct one-on-one assessments quarterly to gauge students' progress, and these assessments are carried out through a combination of written evaluations and practical applications. This comprehensive approach ensures a holistic understanding of each student's development.
Reporting to Parents:
We maintain transparency with parents regarding their child's progress by providing the following documents quarterly:
Progress Report Card: This report card provides an overview of the student's performance across the six developmental learning areas. It highlights both strengths and areas that may require improvement, fostering a clear understanding of the child's overall development.
Portfolio: The portfolio showcases the student's work, projects, and achievements. It offers a tangible representation of their progress, allowing parents to see their child's growth and creativity over time.
Narrative Progress Report: This report goes beyond letter grades and offers a narrative assessment of the child's development. It provides insights into their behavior, attitude, and overall competence, giving parents a more holistic view of their child's educational journey in preparation for the big school.
No Pass or Fail Evaluation:
Our assessment approach does not focus on a pass-or-fail outcome. Instead, it emphasizes recognizing and nurturing each child's unique potential. We understand that every student progresses at their own pace, and our goal is to support their development rather than label them with arbitrary pass/fail grades.
Parent-Teacher Partnership:
We believe that parents play a crucial role in their child's development. As such, our assessment reports include teacher recommendations and guidance on how parents can actively support their children in areas that need improvement. This collaborative approach ensures that parents and teachers work together to help each child reach their full potential.
At Sacred Heart School, our assessment process is not merely about assigning grades; it's about providing a comprehensive understanding of each student's development and fostering a partnership between parents and teachers to nurture their growth. We are committed to creating a supportive and empowering learning environment that enables every child to flourish.
